In 1905, the Garlock family opened Charles Garlock and Sons, a sawmill selling lumber and hardware in Alexandria Bay, New York. Seven years later, in 1913, the family established Garlock Contracting as a division of the business, and set about building a legacy of excellence that we still take pride in today.
Garlock Contracting is now a fifth-generation family business that has been a staple in the Thousand Islands for more than a century. We continue to offer comprehensive construction and carpentry services, and our Alexandria Bay headquarters is also an Ace Hardware store, keeping up the tradition of providing quality lumber and hardware products.

Our team is equipped to handle everything from installing new doors to building custom 5,000-square-foot homes from the ground up. We specialize in both new construction and renovations, offering full home builds, kitchen and bathroom design and remodel services, and outdoor construction like docks, decks and boat houses, among other services. We are known as a premier choice for island construction, thanks to our large barges and dedicated crew, who can often be found working on the islands until February.
